Troubleshooting guide

Features and controls vary by model. Check your exact model before following a step. Make sure the firearm is unloaded before handling an attached optic.

My digital night vision will not turn on. What should I check?

Confirm the battery type and voltage specified for your exact model, check the marked polarity, and make sure the battery compartment is fully closed. Try a known-good compatible battery. Do not substitute rechargeable cells solely because they fit. If the unit still does not start, contact Triton Support with the model and battery details.

Why does the unit shut off or restart?

A low battery or poor battery contact can interrupt power. Check the charge, inspect accessible contacts for dirt or moisture, and check whether an auto-off setting is enabled on your model. Power down before checking the battery compartment. If the problem continues with the correct battery, contact support.

The display or menu looks blurry. How do I clear it up?

On models with an adjustable eyepiece, adjust the eyepiece until the menu text looks clear. If the menu is sharp but the scene is soft, check the separate objective focus, if equipped. Controls differ across Recon45, StarStrikeX, and StarStrike models, so use the controls intended for your exact unit.

Why does the view become pixelated when I zoom?

Digital zoom enlarges the camera image, so pixels and noise become more visible at higher settings. Compare the view at the lowest zoom, clean the lens, and check focus where adjustable. A larger displayed image does not necessarily contain more captured detail.

The screen is on, but the nighttime image is dark. Why?

Check that the lens cap is removed, the front camera lens is clear, and the appropriate night mode is selected. Digital night vision needs usable visible or infrared light; it is not thermal imaging. Confirm that the infrared illuminator is enabled where fitted. If the display remains black in normal daylight, contact support.

Why is the night view washed out or hazy?

Nearby glass, walls, foliage, dust, mist, or moisture can reflect infrared light back toward the camera. Check for an obstruction near the lens and compare the image without viewing through glass. Clean external lenses gently and reduce excessive illumination or screen brightness if your model provides those controls.

Why will my optic not record or recognize the memory card?

First confirm that your model supports recording and that the card meets its specified type and capacity. Power off before reseating the card, then check available storage. Back up files before using any format function, since formatting erases the card. Do not assume another model's card specification applies.

Why does the image look different in day and night modes?

Day mode and night mode process light differently. A monochrome night view is normal for many digital optics. Check the selected display mode and lighting conditions before assuming there is a fault. If unusual colors, lines, or a frozen image persist after a normal restart, send support a photo or short recording.

How should I clean or store my digital night vision optic?

Turn the unit off, remove loose grit with a blower or soft lens brush, then use a clean lens cloth and an optics-safe cleaner as needed. Keep battery and port covers closed during storage. Follow the battery storage instructions for your model, and never open the electronics housing to address internal moisture.

What should I send Triton Support if these checks do not help?

Include the product name, model or SKU, order number, battery type, a description of the problem, and a photo or short video when possible. Mention when the issue occurs and which checks you have tried. Ask support before installing firmware or performing a factory reset; instructions are model-specific.
