I think this is a great idea with poor implementation. It is clearly a digital day and night camera that works. However, the claim this sight is 1-6x is just not true and it seems the company just does not want to recognize this. Testing this sight against other digital day/night scopes and 1-6x LPVO's this sight is 2-4x. This is clearly a software issue that could potentially be updated to fix as I notice when the sight first boots up it appears to be 1x but then zooms in to 2x while saying it is at 1x.

I attempted to record this with the built in record option and noticed a second problem. The video recording or pictures do not record the current zoom you are seeing but just the base magnification. I have reached out to Triton support multiple times about this issue to see if a software update has been pushed and they appear to believe there is no issue with the magnification even though multiple reviews have indicated so.

Well, frankly I find this optic to be something that I would see in a video game or something like that. The quality of the image is low and there is a lag between the actual on screen display vs the movement of your target. I think it will be fun at the range to play with for a few minutes and then its entertainment novelty will wear off. The side panel that holds the SD card doesn't stay covered and I can't figure out for the life of me how to zero it. I doubt I will expend much ammo trying to zero this in or any ammo at all because I can't see this optic being useful for home defense or any sort of actual tactical purpose with regards to actual real life scenarios. It also has terrible zoom and its not relaly 1X its more like 2~X or so which makes it not usable indoors for home defense scenario. You might have some fun with this for airsoft or something but I don't think this belongs and a real firearm. Kind of disappointing since it appeared to be a good robust unit but there are so many shortcomings I could never recommend this item to anyone with a real firearm / actual real life use case scenario.

So because I am a heavy air gunner with PCP air rifles and formally into firearms I thought I would reach out and try the Triton recon 45 compact night vision optic. Amazon is to blame for one star loss as they did not save my previous review when obtaining a picture . Due to the fact on here that you are not allowed to have pictures of guns or rifles or pistols even though that’s what this product is for I am going to do my best with what photos I have to explain where we are where we are at in the review, otherwise this review will not get posted. So here are some of the pros with this that I will list and then we will get into why I gave this a two star review. First I like the fact that it seems heavy and a decent quality. Another thing that I like is that the battery caps have a etching for your fingers to get them started as the batteries are under spring pressure to screw it in place as well as you do get some extra pieces in case you are out in the field and need to change the battery. You do get an extra cap in case you misplaced one. All of the rubber seals are pretty decent although I know after a while you’ll probably have a bust in the middle by using your fingers as this is common, but it is water resistant as long as those are still solid. The USB-C attachment is on the side, however, with the microSD card slot, even though I’m not a fan for small SD cards while being out in the wooded area hunting or what have you as they can easily be lost so this can be a plus or minus depending on how you look at it. You do get a side mount Picatinny Weaver rail however depending on the type of rifle being a side eject or top this might be something you’ll want to consider. They do provide a 32 gig SD card however there are a few things that need to be mentioned so let’s get into a two star rating. Number one I do not like the little quick start piece of paper with super tiny fonts telling you how to use your unit that you paid a decent amount of money for. I should not have to put on a bifocal set to read something that I need to know a little bit about. the issue is that many people have various versions of these and if you do something incorrectly, it can incapacitate the unit , for example the batteries, there is nothing stating location and direction except for a small print on the unit itself, which can rub off as it’s next to the dial how to place the batteries in and if you do it incorrectly, you will fry this unit. This unit takes two CR 125 a non-rechargeable batteries, which is a huge disappointment. You should be able to obtain rechargeable batteries, and plug-in to recharge them, especially on an IR recording unit. Instructions state zero at 25 yards minimal however I found it to be 28 to 30. The IR states that it can go to 700. I found it to be 600 with the IR and there is nothing in the manual that states the capacity of memory even though 32 is what they provide you may get a 64 gig error if you go any higher. Recording is at a 30 FPS for frame rate which is low and it is pretty grainy and does require at least a little bit of moonlight, It is enough to let you see the target however in recording it comes out a little bit this way as well. Is this a nice unit? Absolutely however not for the price that you’re paying. Unfortunately, right now the cons are out weighing the pros.

The advertisement was minimal, so I decided to provide more information. This is a Very Powerful Digital Scope in this very small box. The Main visual screen is approximately 1.5 inches round (pic #1,4,5). Pic #4 &5 shows the main screen at 1x magnification. Pic #5 is an actual Night Vision Shot at Level 1 IR, and it goes up to Level 4. It is a Second Focal Plane Reticle, the Image will increase but the Reticle stays the same size. There are 4 Reticles that can be either Black or Red, Reticles include Full Circle w/ Center Dot, Circle with Dot and Hash Marks on 12, 3, 6, & 9 points on the Clock. Also the displayed Image and Crosshairs. It has the ability to Record Video or take Pictures to a SD Card internally. I really, really like this Digital Scope.

This 1x6 night vision optic is something that’s fun to take out to the range or to use alone as a spotting scope.The optic takes two rechargeable batteries that are included along with a tough braided usb-c cable to charge it.The optic is straight-forward with large buttons on top and a menu that makes it easy to adjust what you need.The screen is digital so if your batteries die then you have now way to look through the optic. I’m assuming this is why it’s considered a secondary optic and they do include an offset picatinny mount.The optic says it’s 1x-6x which is impressive but the 1x is definitely closer to 2.5x than a true 1x. Overall the optics digital screen is clear and the night vision option gives you great night vision even when it’s pitch black due to the IR illuminator.The optic takes an SD card and allows you to take videos on the ranger when used as a scouting optic. A 32gb sandisk SD card is included.Overall this is a fun night vision optic that can be used on the range or other times, but it isn’t something you use in a real defensive situation. If anything this optic excels when used as a secondary device or used as a way to scout a property when it’s pitch black.It’s well built and if you’re looking for something that fits the situations I referenced then this is worth checking out.

Great day/night scope for the price. The only reason I didn’t give a five stars is due to the magnification on 1X zoom is a bit close for close quarters. Comes with everything you need to go right out of the box.

I was VERY impressed by the look feel and functionality of this optic for as cheap as it is being nigh vision. Batttery life is good. The weight is manageable, and it even has plenty of adjustability and brightness settings in the menu. BUT, after being on my 10/22 for a few shots the screen completely glitched out and stopped working. I tried to reach out to Triton, but their website is down. So, I have requested a replacement, and we will see how that goes.

neat little night vision...but i don't believe it is 6x..4x at best.. but it is going to replace a red dot for me. should do well

I have to admit it, I was super surprised by how well this teeny tiny little optic works. Seriously., this is a LOT of tech in a very small package...and it works!!! I have been thinking about what I am going to mount this on but i haven't got any stand-out choices. I could put it on a hunting rifle, but it's really made for close quarters. I could put it on one of my large framed pistols, but it's just a wee bit oversized for them. This is most likely going to wind up on one of my AR style Pistol Caliber Carbines that I use for home defense. I can rule the darkness with this thing. Super crisp visuals, easy adjustability, full color and B&W. What's not to absolutely love about this thing? What I'm probably going to do is mount a 45 degree cantilever pic rail and mount it on my 9mm pcc. It also comes with an impressive amount of hardware, increasing you mounting options.

Let me start of by saying this tech at this price point is just amazing. My initial opinion was that this was a paintball sight. After someone playing with it I still think that but I do think it has some use on a true firearm. It works by using an infrared spotlight and then using the light reflected by that spotlight amplifying it and displaying it. It does not pick up on heat coming from objects viewed through the sight. It uses reflected infrared not thermal imaging, there is a difference. It's easily mounted and has easy controls and has battery life that at last at least one or two shooting sessions and that's about all I used it for between charging. The construction quality is good being of heavyweight aluminum. It's easy to mount and dismount. As far as the build quality goes you get what you pay for at this price. As far as actual use goes I would say that it would fit well on a range toy or maybe a shotgun for Turkey hunting. The image was not what I would call precise but good enough to hit a target at close range which is pretty much what it was designed for. It would be OK for turkeys or coyotes with a shotgun. Maybe a PCC. As is usually the case with digital magnification the more you zoom the worse the image gets so you're better off staying at the wider magnifications. I really couldn't see if there was any delay between live action and the digital display the only way to see it is to keep both eyes open and it's hard to tell but lag is usually obvious. I would say that the quality overall is about as good as the price. If you can use it for any of the purposes I've mentioned then I can see you being happy with it beyond that I was looking for something that cost more if you can afford it because you'll be disappointed with its performance for more than that.

For the price I dont know how anybody could complain. This thing is buit tough. There is no lag and the day and night modes are both good. Night is little gritty but not bad. Im sure it'll put the shot where it needs to go. Don't need the details lol. I am not running this on a firearm. Im sure it could be. It says it's rifle rated. So far so good. I wish it came on automatically but it doesn't take long. Quick button push. I usually don't write reviews period but some of these reviews on here are from haters lol. If the longevity or zero becomes a problem I'll update.

I only own entry level optics since that's what the budget allows. And this is a nice one in that range with good features, robust design and quality accessories but a psychotic marketing approach.This showed up in my available Vine list as an optic with not very clear description or justification that it was night vision. I read between the lines and determined that yes this is night vision. In the Features and Specs section of the product details under Night Vision it says 'No'. What the hay? This has to be night vision. So I ordered it up.This is a features packed device with a quality build and budgeted for the rest of us. I'm not parajumping into war zones and neither are you. We want something decent to looks for two and four legged predators in our area of operations. This serves that well. It has a micro SD card for recording events with date & time stamps but I don't need or use that and won't even attempt to review that portion of this. I type with my elbows folks and the extra tech is a distraction to me. I don't need it.The first thing to do is charge the batteries and I charged these for 12 hours with no definitive indication that the charge was 100%. A tiny, tiny red indicator next to the USB-C never turned green but kind of glowed there showing me a firm maybe. The display showed a green battery icon so I assumed we were charged. Now off to the cellar with the lights off to play. Nice. Very nice.The buttons are place well with intuitive controls if you don't care about the recording functions. Powers right up and shows shapes, outlines and detail to confirm what's there. The IR feature is great and consistent for providing details. All the previous works on the edge of the woods at full dark with exterior lights off. I run the available buttons from low to high and return to mid range and move on to the next button to see what the controls do. There's a pretty wide range of view through this. It's good.The frame is fairly heavy but strongly made. I like the fit but how are you going to pack night vision into something too light weight? The mount is fine, too, with a good angle to my low light dot optic to look between them with both eyes open and see the wood line and anything lurking there with good clarity. Can I co-witness with this optic at different heights? Perhaps and I'll try later. This the ready for close action piece for just that, checking perimeters.Okay, buckle up since here's the real gripe. The marketing info both online and in the manual. Is there any better on the company website? I'll check but the marketing is abysmal. There's one photo on the 'Zon site of this with horrible descriptions, inadequate and outright erroneous details. Paintball? Airsoft? I'm going to ruin a night vision with paint splatters or plastic BB's? The 'manual' is the size of 1 1/2 credit cards with little info. There are the usual parts included; spare battery cover, wrench, mount, cleaning cloth, etc etc. and one plastic part that isn't a tool or cover. Is it just a keychain charm? Don't know because there's no info. Here's the problem. This is a $169 optic and it's worth it for the item but not the supporting info. Someone's mind came up with this in an elevator speech or pitched Power Point proposal. "Boss I can stuff two rechargeable batteries, IR AND a mini SD into one package that we can put out lifetime guarantee on!" Sounds good, can you offer it with barley discernible messaging and poorly constructed supporting information? Because that's what they've done here. Awful.So don't be discouraged. It's a good optic at a fine value offered by a sub par marketing department. But is this indicative of how their returns people operate? Time will tell.
